The Interstate Committee for the Dissemination of Knowledge and Adult Education was established by a decision of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States on January 17, 1997 in order to coordinate activities in the dissemination of advanced scientific, technological and cultural achievements as well as adult education in the Commonwealth as the head structure of an independent social sector.
The Committee bases its work on universally recognized principles and norms of international law and fundamental documents of the Commonwealth. The Committee’s activity is aimed at the development of integration processes and international contacts contributing to the formation of a common intellectual and information space, promotion of knowledge and consolidation of creative and scientific potential in solving social and economic problems.

 

Profiles of the Committee’s activities:
⦁ Implementation of interaction with interstate (intergovernmental) bodies of the Commonwealth, state scientific and public bodies and organizations in the field of adult education and dissemination of knowledge;
⦁ Developing a modern concept of knowledge dissemination and adult education;
⦁ carrying out activities aimed at the formation of a common intellectual and information space of the CIS, the creative use of the available educational level of the population and cultural heritage, international contacts, exchange of experience in adult education and dissemination of knowledge;
⦁ assistance to the states of the Commonwealth in the development and implementation of national programs to enhance the intellectual potential of the individual through the implementation of socially significant projects aimed at adult education and sustainable development of society;
⦁ Development and testing of new approaches to the implementation of promising educational technologies in the interests of the individual and the ethical recovery of society;
⦁ participation in the creation of a unified automated system of information exchange between the member states of the Commonwealth in the field of dissemination of knowledge and adult education;
⦁ Facilitating the process of mutual recognition of diplomas, certificates, certificates and other documents of education, advanced training and requalification both within and outside the Commonwealth of Independent States.

XV meeting July 11, 2007.
Extended Solemn Meeting dedicated to the 10th Anniversary of the Committee.
On January 17, 1997, the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States signed an Agreement on Cooperation in the Sphere of Knowledge and Adult Education and created the eponymous
Interstate Committee. The first meeting of the Committee was held on June 27, 1997.

XVI meeting January 25-26, 2008.
